Consumer Watchdog Guide: 12-Hour Cancellation Policy, Subscription Auto-Renewals and Tutors

Protect your education budget and maximise learning progress with these practical guidelines from BudgetFitter:

• Understand the 12-Hour Lesson Cancellation Policy: To reschedule or cancel a booked lesson without forfeiting your payment, you must submit the cancellation at least 12 hours prior to the scheduled start time; cancellations within 12 hours require the tutor’s individual discretion.
• Manage Recurring 4-Week Subscription Cycles: After your trial lesson, Preply packages lessons into flexible 4-week subscription bundles (e.g. 1, 2, or 3 lessons per week); you can easily change your weekly lesson count, pause your subscription, or rollover unused hours in your account settings.
• Review 2-Minute Video Introductions and Student Reviews: Watch the video introduction on each tutor’s profile and check verified student ratings to assess their teaching style, accent, and audio/video quality before booking.
• Take Advantage of the 100% Free Tutor Replacement Guarantee: If a trial lesson does not match your expectations, contact customer support within 3 days to get a free trial with a different tutor at zero extra cost.
• Use Preply Space for Automated Vocabulary Syncing: Add unfamiliar words to your Preply vocabulary list during lessons to practice spaced-repetition flashcards between video sessions.

How to Maximise Learning Speed on Preply

Successful language students use these techniques to reach conversational fluency faster:

• Schedule 2 to 3 Short Lessons Weekly: Consistency is crucial for language acquisition; taking three 45-minute sessions per week produces faster progress than one long 2-hour session.
• Send Specific Learning Goals Before Your First Lesson: Message your tutor before your trial explaining your exact goals (such as preparing for a French corporate job interview or a Spanish holiday).
• Ask for Targeted Homework and Audio Resources: Request customised grammar exercises and podcast recommendations from your tutor to reinforce learning between live video classes.
